For this week we discussed the OSI Model.  The OSI model having seven layers.  I learned the devices and hardware used in each layer of the OSI model and the protocols used.  I learned a memorization acronym for the seven layers, “Please Do Not Throw Sausage Pizza Away.”  This being the seven layers:  Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Applications.  I also learned the functions of the devices used in the model:  Hubs, Repeaters, NIC, Switches, Bridges, and Routers.  Also during the lab we learned how to ping, traceroute, ARP, and also using the command prompt and mac addresses and IP configurations.
I shared an article on Diigo about HP’s take on the future trends on networking.  Most of it was about how fast the Networking world is changing, the rise of Mobility and Cloud Computing.
